  16. porcine preacher, he gained national notoriety as an adviser to
  17. Tawana Brawley, the black teenager who claimed that a gang of
  18. white males abducted and raped her in November 1987. A grand
  19. jury investigation found that Brawley's allegations were a
  20. hoax. Sharpton is charged with stealing more than $250,000 from
  21. the National Youth Movement, an organization he founded 18 years
  22. ago.
